How about Boston.com, the Web site of the Boston Globe, which urged Craigslist to pull the ads in an editorial last week?
A reader notes in an email that if you search “escort” on Boston.com, you get something that looks like this:
(It’s small, I know, but those are ads for Boston-based escort services — including one called “Asian Delight & College Cuties” — in the Google AdSense box in the right-hand sidebar. Link to original screen shot in case you need a bigger view or the above disappears as other photos have been in recent days).
What’s worse if you click on the “more information” link under each ad, you get taken to a Business Listing page, which has more in-depth information, including reviews. While it’s “Powered by Google,” the page is branded to look like it’s Boston.com content:
