Why Your Instagram Photos Look So Cool

This is taken a ReadWriteWeb post I wrote for this morning in which I interviewed Adrian Salamunovic, co-founder of CanvasPop, about the Facebook acquisition of Instagram. Salamunovic has studied the Instagram app closely and had a no-nonsense explanation on why Instagram photos look so good:

This is my new favorite photo of my favorite dog, taken by my favorite person.

Yesterday’s Photo: 2011 Boston Marathon Application

I was able to defer my entry from 2010 to 2011, and the application to go through with this came in the mail yesterday:

Still have to get through New York, which I had privately said would be my last, but I’m leaning towards filling this out….just in case I wake up on November 8 thinking “Maybe one more…”

I spent most of yesterday afternoon and evening writing (for a change, and opposed to blogging or preparing for classes). This was the rather labor- and paper-intensive process of story boarding the next draft of a script I’m working on:

Hated to waste such a beautiful day working but making it up with Patriots tickets — first row, end zone. Not a bad little Sunday….

I’m looking for stuff to decorate the barren walls of my office at Bridgewater State (I hate to admit it but I’m actually excited about having my own office for the first time: not a home office, not a cube, not a pod, but an actual office).

This was a nice little $2 purchase on eBay — and I mean little. Going to need much more to cover those walls. Suggestions/donations accepted.

Person who identifies it and offers preparation pointers in the comments section first will get a signed copy of Blood & Volume: Inside New York’s Israeli Mafia by Me (I got 100 in the mail yesterday and need to figure out some ways to get rid of them — more contests to come).

I was on scenic Cape Ann yesterday, on what may have been the nicest and most photogenic days of the entire summer, yet this is the only photo I took all day:

Balls

I was there to run a 25K road race and, while I finished fifth from last, I still take my running seriously enough that I’m not going to be the jack ass taking photos throughout the race. I planned on driving the course and taking some post-race but was low on gas and didn’t have batteries for my camera, so I scrapped that plan and headed home to shower.

Where I realized I was going to need copious amounts of baby powder to fix the fact that I made the mistake of running 15.5 miles without applying Body Glide. And this is what my bath mat looked like after said baby powder application.

I didn’t take any pictures today so I had to steal this from someone else:
