I’ve been a relatively bad blogger lately as I adjust to my new working hours of 5 a.m. to 9 a.m., pump out book proposal pitches and enjoy summer. Some of the stuff I’ve been reading lately that I would’ve commented on if I didn’t have a life:
Writers pick their favorite book-to-film adaptations: For me, it was Leaving Las Vegas.
HR managers turn to Google: What you blog can impact your job prospects.
A case for the end of hourly wages: “American workers, on average, spend 45 hours a week at work, but describe 16 of those hours as ‘unproductive,’ according to a study by Microsoft.”
What Pittsburgh Can Teach the Country: Howard Fineman gets the Chamber of Commerce tour of Pittsburgh.

Yeah! We want you to spend more time on your free blog and not working on the real job that provides you with income!
We slobs who pay nothing to read your writing demand your tireless devotion!

Agreed!!!
(that said, you’ve posted ten times in the last twelve days … how is that being a bad blogger exactly?)

You of all people should be familiar with my “quality over quantity” mantra by now.

“Quality”?
Phhft. That attitude won’t get you anywhere.
Does Bob Greene worry about quality? Mitch Albom? Mike Barnicle?
Crank out that sludge!

My opinion on the film adaptation of a book can vary depending on whether I’ve read the book first or saw the film and then read the book. But I’m tempted to say “Out of Sight” and “1984″, and in the latter case I’m referring to the 1984 adaptation, starring John Hurt as Winston. (With Richard Burton in a chilling turn as O’Brien.)
How about worst adaptations? “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil” comes to mind.
